Alliance for Children & Youth – CIS
The mission of the Alliance for Children & Youth / Communities In Schools is to surround students with a community of support empowering them to stay in school and achieve in life. Communities In Schools (CIS) is a nationally recognized dropout prevention program designed to give at-risk students wrap-around case management services in schools that are identified as Title I. The Communities In Schools program offers tutoring, mentoring, basic life skills classes, school supplies, clothing closets, parent resources, and any other community resources to help at-risk students raise their grades, test scores and ultimately stay on track to graduate from high school and become a productive member of society. Students participating in CIS generally raise their grades at least one letter grade, raise their End of Course test scores, and reduce absences and incidents of behaviors. We believe that the only way things will change is through community partnerships and collaboration.
