Dolly Parton Imagination Library
Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library is a book gifting program that mails free books to children from birth to age five in participating communities within the United States, United Kingdom, Canada, Australia and Republic of Ireland. United Way of Gaston County has participated in the program for 15 years. Data shows that the first five years of a child’s life are critical in their long-term success in life. Reading books aloud to children stimulates their imagination and expands their understanding of the world. It helps them develop language and listening skills and prepares them to understand the written word.
There are currently 999 children enrolled in the Imagination Library through United Way
Since 2004, 1,383 children have graduated from the Imagination Library Program
We are currently providing books to Pre-K classes in the following Gaston County Schools: Carr Elementary, North Belmont Elementary, Springfield Elementary, Bess Elementary, & Rankin Elementary
